A very well-done Galen Erso — especially the facial sculpting
The Galen Erso figure from Ra’is Customs in dark green is one I’ve been looking forward to for a long time, especially because Galen is one of the key “Rogue One” characters who, until the release of the Lego Death Star set 75419, never got the minifigure he deserved. This version is based on his dark green outfit.
For me, the best part of the figure is definitely the face. Mads Mikkelsen is surprisingly difficult to recreate as a minifigure, but Ra’is has done a great job here. The eyes, the eyebrows, the contours of his cheeks, and the slightly weary expression immediately remind me of him. In my opinion, the resemblance is significantly better than that of the official LEGO Galen Erso minifigure, sw1481. That’s probably the main reason why I really like this version so much.
The dark green uniform is also well done. I like that the design doesn’t try to overload the figure with unnecessary details. The folds, seams, pockets, and belt are all there, but the overall impression remains clean and unmistakably LEGO-style. The muted green also suits Galen very well and gives him the understated appearance of an Imperial scientist that one associates with the character.
The figure’s design is by Brick Daddy Figures, and all parts are pad printed on original LEGO parts.
The printing on the torso and legs is sharp and well-balanced, and the printing on the back provides enough detail without looking cluttered. I also appreciate the simplicity of the hairpiece. It doesn’t distract from the face, which is really the highlight of this figure.
What I like best about this release is that it feels like Ra’is understood which details actually matter. Galen Erso doesn’t need elaborate armor, accessories, or complicated molded parts. He needs a convincing face and a faithful, understated outfit—and that’s exactly what this figure delivers. The data card with the Death Star plans perfectly rounds out the figure.
For me, “Elite Engineer” isn’t quite perfect, simply because the overall design is naturally less spectacular than some of the more elaborate “Star Wars” custom figures. But as a representation of Galen Erso—and especially of Mads Mikkelsen—it’s very convincing.
A very successful release with one of the better likenesses to the actor I’ve ever seen in a custom minifigure. 9/10.
NICE quality
Came with cracked torso
